Edith Killebrew “Kay” Jones, age 96 of Edmore is now absent from the body and present with the Lord having passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2016.

She was the first of seven children born to Alfred & Velma (West) Johnston on July 16, 1920 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband Douglas Jones; brothers, William Johnston, Charles Johnston; sisters, Elna Dorman, Victoria Reynolds; brother-in-law, Verlin Reynolds and a niece, Susan Johnston.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Beverly Sue (Jerry) Nichols of Michigan; grandsons, Kenneth (Laura) Nichols of Michigan, James (Michelle) Nichols of Michigan, Stephen (Tricia) Nichols of Arizona, David (Jennie) Nichols of Michigan; eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brothers, Vernon (Majie) Johnston of North Carolina, Robert (Helen) Johnston of Florida; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Johnston of Germany, Eunice Johnston of Texas; brother-in-law, Carl Dorman of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.

Kay worked in various business offices most of her life and was a member of the American Business Women Association. She enjoyed and was excellent with sewing, crochet and crafting. She was known as sweet, kind and fun. Kay also leaves behind many special friends especially from the Blissfield Baptist Church in Blissfield, Michigan and the First Congregational Church in Stanton where she worshiped in later years. Kay loved her Lord, her family and looked forward to the day when she would go home to Heaven and be with Jesus.

Visitation with Kay’s family will be on Friday, October 14, 2016 beginning at 10 AM at the First Congregational Church in Stanton (305 N. Camburn Street) with funeral services starting at 11 AM with grandsons Pastor Ken Nichols and Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Graveside services will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton with a luncheon following at the church.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Kay’s memory the family has suggested donations be directed to Stanton First Congregational Church, Home Street Manor of Edmore or Kindred Hospice in Grand Rapids. Envelopes will be available at the church.
