Obituary for Jacob Barrus

Jacob  Barrus
Jacob E. Barrus, age 22 of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017.

While he may have acted tough, Jacob had the heart of a teddy bear and was a loving, caring young man who could talk to anyone and had never met a stranger. He loved his country and was honored to have served in the U.S. Army. Jacob loved his Chevy vehicles, country music and antique cars. He enjoyed being at the Crystal Motor Speedway during the summer and helping various local drivers with their cars. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jacob is preceded in death by his great-grandpa Barrus, great-grandpa Kelley, great-grandma Kelley and grandma Ruth Campbell.

Surviving Jacob is his father, Jason Barrus of Sheridan; great-grandma Irene Barrus of Greenville; grandma Diane Albertson of Wildwood, Florida, grandpa Jim Barrus of Sheridan; uncles, Jesse (Lyan) Barrus of Miami, Florida, Jim (Heather Newton) Barrus of Greenville; cousins, Jesse & Jayden Barrus of Miami, Florida and girlfriend, Betty Roger of Greenville.

Jacob’s family will be receiving friends and family on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Sheridan.

Memorial services for Jacob will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11 AM at the Trinity Church in Stanton (415 N. Mill Street), with Pastor Mark Edwards officiating.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation to the family envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
