Obituary for Wayne Korf

Wayne  Korf
Wayne M. Korf, age 72 of Orleans, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

He was born the son of Marion & Beatrice (Putt) Korf on November 14, 1944 in Grand Rapids. They, along with a stepson, Deane Ledsworth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phil & June Schwenn and a niece, Tracy Korf precede him in death.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Brenda (Doug) Strehl of Ada, Chanda (Kevin) Hepler of North Muskegon; son, Brent (Angela) Korf of Ada; grandchildren, Drake, Sage & Shae Strehl, Abby, Morgan & Devin Korf, Tabatha (Elvis) Fetic; great grandchildren, Leo & Leilah Fetic; sister, Ann (Art) Brazee of Wyoming; sister-in-law, Amy (Gregg) Purcilly of Auburn Hills; brother, Larry (Cindy) Korf of Saugatuck and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne loved living on Long Lake and boating. He attended the Stanton First Congregational Church where he sang in the choir. Wayne retired from Gordon Food Service where he drove truck for 38 years. He loved taking rides in his fully restored 1971 AMX, which he was the original owner of, riding four wheelers and other various ATV’s. However, most of all, Wayne loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Visitation with Wayne’s family will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services for Wayne will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Stanton First Congregational Church beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Wayne’s memory, the family suggests donations be directed to the Stanton First Congregational Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
