Sharon Kay Petersen, age 75, of Stanton, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 22, 2017 surrounded in love by her family.

She was born the daughter of Delbert & Grace (Gonser) Mulholland on December 20, 1941 in Charlotte. They, along with her son Corey, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irving & Myrtie Petersen and sister-in-law Karma Petersen precede her in death.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry; daughter, Christy (Curtis) Holt of Wyoming; son, Jason (Cheri) Petersen of Stanton; grandchildren, Hillary Holt, Emily Holt, Hailey Petersen, Zachary Petersen, Jordan Petersen; brother, Del “Sonny” (Sue) Mulholland of Greenville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorraine & Tom Reese of Stanton, Duane & Connie Petersen of Cedar Springs, Darwin & Mary Jane Petersen of Sheridan, Red & Esther Petersen of Sidney, Mert Petersen of Rockford and many nieces & nephews.

Sherry was retired from Central Montcalm Public Schools where she was a cook for many years. She was a member of the White Pine Library Board, Stanton Planning Commission, American Legion Auxiliary and was also a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sidney. She enjoyed bowling in leagues in Greenville and Sheridan, but most of all, Sherry loved her family and her family loved her.

Visitation with Sherry’s family will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Funeral services for Sherry will be on Thursday, January 26, 2017 beginning at 11 AM at Sidney Faith Lutheran Church, with Pastor Betsy Kamphuis officiating. Final interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Sherry’s memory, the family suggest donations be directed to the Central Montcalm Community Foundation and envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
