Reva  Steele
Reva E. Steele, age 96, of Sheridan passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2017, after a life of giving and sharing and most of all, loving her family and friends, always putting others before herself.

She was born the daughter of Russell & Jessie (Snyder) Thunder in Walton Township on June 9, 1920. They along with granddaughters, Tammy Hopkins, Mary Beth Hopkins, brother, Melvin Jaquette and sister, Norma Teague precede her in death. Also, preceding Reva, was her husband Harold, who passed away on February 19, 1998 the date of their 55th wedding anniversary.

Reva is survived by her daughter, Janice (Ed) Hopkins of Cedar Springs; son, Richard (Joanne) Steele of Sheridan; grandchildren, John (Cathy) Steele of Hudsonville, Chris (Kristi) Steele of Walker, Rob (April) Steele of Saranac, Jeff (Alene) Hopkins of Cedar Springs, Melody (Thomas) Long of Grand Rapids, Matt Hopkins of Cedar Springs, Rebecca (Jack) McHugh of Walker, Barry Hopkins of Grand Rapids; sixteen great grandchildren; brother, John (Michiko) Jaquette of Westland; sisters-in-law, Marion Slusser, Mary Steele, Hilda Vollmer; many nieces and nephews; her devoted aide Jennifer Mathis and her “furry companion” Sophie.

Reva lived in many places including, Eaton Rapids, Charlotte, Lansing, Stanton, Sheridan and spend many winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Anyone who knew Reva was well aware that she loved to cook and bake and was highly skilled at both. She loved keeping her home, doing crafts, playing Euchre, gardening and going camping with her husband.

Visitation with Reva’s family will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5 – 8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral service for Reva will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Final interment will be next to her husband at Evergreen Cemetery.
