Philip Hopkins
Philip W. Hopkins, age 52 of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.

Philip is survived by his parents Floyd & Joyce Hopkins of Sheridan; sister, Christine (Wayne Cranmer) Hopkins of Gowen; brothers, Kenneth (Tammy Warners) Hopkins of Sheridan, Alan (Wendy) Hopkins of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Adam (Amy) Hopkins, Nathan (Dawn) Hopkins, Tyler Cranmer, Jacob Cranmer, Jennifer Hopkins, Jason Hopkins, Hallie Hopkins, Teigen Hopkins, Zoey Hopkins, Blake Cranmer, Jami Satterlee and her children, Aubree, Braylon, Brinlee, Harper, Nathan (Alison) Elliott and their children, Colton, Owen, Everett, Christopher Cranmer and his children, Allyha, Leanna, Miguel.

Philip is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert & Beatrice Hopkins and Orville & Hazel Bollinger and several aunts and uncles.

Philip loved to hunt and trap. It didn’t matter if it was mountain lion hunting in New Mexico, pheasant hunting in South Dakota or bobcat and bear hunting in the Upper Peninsula, as long as you could run the game with dogs, Philip was all about it. He was an avid horseman and horse farrier. Philip was also a big supporter of the Montcalm County 4-H Program. He was also a farmer for many years while at the same time he got his tool and die journeyman’s card and then worked at Greenville Tool & Die for 33 years. Most of all though, Philip loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by everyone.

Visitation with Philip’s family will be on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1-5 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services for Philip will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 beginning at 11 AM at the Shiloh Community Church (8197 Heth Street, Orleans, MI 48865). Graveside services will be held at Clear Lake Cemetery.

For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Philip’s memory the family suggests donations be made to the Montcalm County 4-H Program and envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
