Obituary for William DeLong

William  DeLong
William G. DeLong, age 68 of Sheridan, formerly of Walkerville, passed away peacefully at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.

He was born the son of Stan & June (Orr) DeLong on November 30, 1948 in Manistique, Michigan and they along with his wife, Dorothy DeLong; brother, Gary DeLong; sister, Jerry Quick and grandson, Nathan Page have preceded him in death.

Bill is survived by his children, Jeana (Eric) Krtzon of Arkansas, Bill (Ann Morris) Kornoelje of California, Billy Joe DeLong of New York, Brandie (Brian) Cogswell of Sheridan; sisters, Cora (Roger) Vanderwall of Ravenna, Bernadine Thornton of California, Brenda (Eddie) Phillips of Indiana; brothers, Fredrick DeLong of Newaygo, Rick (Mary) DeLong of Belmont, Carl DeLong of Birch Run; grandchildren, Ricky (Ashley) Betts, Jr., Jessica Betts, Kadyn Kornoelje, Brandon Cogswell, Patrick Cogswell, Andrew Kornoelje; great grandchildren, Karson Betts, Bryson Turner and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was an “old school” kind of guy. He enjoyed hunting, traditional country music, watching NASCAR where he was always rooting for Jeff Gordon. He also liked watching various TV shows like Criminal Minds, Law & Order, M.A.S.H. and Bones. He served our country as a member of the US Army and was very patriotic. But most of all, Bill loved his family and really enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A celebration of Bill’s life is being held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2 PM at Bill’s House – “The Cabin”, located at 3149 E. Minke Road, Walkerville, MI 49459.
