Eldon “Bus” Adams, age 95 of Stanton passed away peacefully under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Hospice on Monday, September 11, 2017.

He was born the son of Melvin & Coral (Allen) Adams in Alma on November 20, 1921 and they along with his son, Greg Adams; grandson, Chris Thompson; son-in-law, Steve Farrell; sisters, Mary Crawford and Janet Hartley and brother, Melvin Adams have preceded him in death.

Bus is survived by his loving and caring wife of 63 years, Margaret; daughters, Martha (Dan) Cadwell of The Villages, Florida, Kathy Farrell of Bend, Oregon, Jane (Tim) Hemenway of Ionia; sons, Doug (Rebecca) Adams of Joplin, Missouri, Al (Angela) Adams of Rockford; grandchildren, Victoria Stefanic of Holt, Andy Farrell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Alison (Andrew) Wright of Ionia, Matt Hemenway of Kalamazoo, Eldon “Mitch” Adams of Rockford, Emily Adams of Rockford, Alan Adams of Rockford, Julia Adams of Rockford, Lyndsey (Jennifer) Adams of Dallas, Texas, Margaret Adams of Kansas City, Missouri; great grandchildren, Tyler Stefanic of Holt, Eleanor “Nora” Wright of Ionia, Amanda Thompson of Elkhart, Indiana; great great grandsons, Landon Thompson and Eli Thompson; daughter-in-law, Cindy Anderson of Stanton and the Vanderbeek family.

Bus owned and operated the Adams Ford dealership in Stanton for 48 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a loving husband, a great father and an awesome grandpa. He proudly served our country as a Private First Class in the National Guard and a 1st Lieutenant in the Army where he served under General Patton during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Bus loved being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and playing golf, which he was quite good at. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin on the Manistee River. Bus was also an avid Tigers and MSU fan. For 30 years, Bus & Margaret enjoyed spending their winters in North Padre Island, Texas where many wonderful memories were made and great friendships were built. During his career, Bus was very active in the community serving in the Stanton American Legion, Sheridan VFW, Stanton Rotary, he was a member of the Central Montcalm School Board and was a former board member of the Michigan Automobile Dealers Association.

A Mass of Christian burial is being held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Bernadette of Lourdes in Stanton beginning at 11 AM with Father Dominic Tirkey officiating.

A memorial luncheon will be held immediately after the service until 3 PM at the Stanton American Legion (337 W. Day Street) where the Stanton American Legion Honor Guard will render Military Honors. Final inurnment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
