Obituary for Ellen Rule
Ellen E. Rule, age 88 of Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Cottage Grove Estates in Fenwick.
She was born the daughter of Matthew & Frances (Anderson) Maxfield in Sheridan on August 8, 1929 and they along with her husband, Lloyd Rule and one brother and two sisters precede her in death.
Ellen is survived by her three sons, Jim (Cathy) Rule of Carson City, John (Lisa) Rule of Sheridan, Jerry Rule of Crystal; her twin sister, Helen Edwards of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a surgical technician at Sheridan Community Hospital for 60 years. She was a life member of the Sheridan VFW Auxiliary, where she loved to play bingo. In her younger days, Ellen really liked snowmobiling and was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, but most of all, she loved her family. She was very supportive of her children’s activities and loved her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Visitation with Ellen’s family will be on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.
Funeral services for Ellen will be on Sunday, October 1, 2017 beginning at 2 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Ken Harger officiating.
For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Ellen’s memory the family suggests donations be directed to either the Sheridan Community Hospital or Sheridan VFW Auxiliary and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
