Obituary for Arlene Turner

Arlene Isabelle Turner, age 92 of Crystal passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

She was born the daughter of Ernest & Maude (McClelland) Burk on August 29, 1925 in Crystal. They precede her in death as well as two daughters, Jean Mary and Paula Jean; brother, Earnest Burk and sisters, Doris Bernske and Delora Mast.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 70 years, Paul Turner; sons, Bruce (Geri) Turner of St. Johns, Brian (Ann) Turner of Chillicothe, Illinois; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Woodhems, Laura Turner, Bethany Turner, Jake Turner and great grandchildren, Ava, Jackson, Tucker, Harper, Vincent and Asher.

Arlene was a long-time resident of the Crystal area. She was a member of the Crystal Congregational Church, the Michigan Education Association and National Association of Realtors. Arlene briefly worked for Governor Kim Sigler before meeting her husband Paul. She also served as the Crystal Township Clerk for 18 years, a Spanish teacher for the Carson City-Crystal School District for 16 years and a realtor for 30 years, having just retired a few years ago.

Visitation with Arlene’s family will be on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM at the Crystal Congregational Church, a memorial service celebrating her life beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. Final inurnment will be at the Crystal Township Cemetery.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Arlene’s memory the family suggests they be directed to the American Cancer Society and envelopes will be available at the church on Thursday.
