Obituary for Ernest "Bud" Rogers

Ernest "Bud" Rogers
Ernest (Bud) Rogers, age 91 of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Michigan.

He was born the son of Wm. Henry & Flora (Clark) Rogers in McBride on October 22, 1926 and they along with four sisters, Marie Kelly, Marian Rogers, Dortha Hillard and Shirley King, one brother, Vernard Rogers and sister-in-law, Patricia Coveart, precede him in death.

Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nancy; daughter, Jody (Lee) Huey of Canton; son, Tom (Susan) Rogers of Sheridan; grandchildren, Jay (Lindsey) Rogers of Berkley, Justin Huey of Ypsilanti, Alison Huey of Ypsilanti; great-grandson, Dean Rogers of Berkley; sister, Joyce Gilbert of Edmore; brother-in-law, Garry Coveart of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.

Six days after graduating from Vestaburg High School, Bud was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served our country during World War II. As a heavy equipment operator, Bud loved “playing in the dirt” and that love didn’t stop at work. He liked to garden and grow things, such as fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, going dancing with Nancy, getting together with friends and playing cards, especially euchre. Bud and Nancy also liked to spend the winter at their home in Ruskin, Florida which they did for over 20 years.

Visitation with Bud’s family will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan and on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 10-11 AM.

Funeral services for Bud will be on Thursday, November 30, 2017 beginning at 11 AM with final interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Bud’s memory the family suggests donations be directed to either the Central Montcalm Community Foundation or the White Pine Library and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
